Download Multiple Apps Simultaneously On The Google Play Store!

Android users can now download multiple apps simultaneously on the Google Play Store. After teasing Android users with this much-needed feature, Google is finally rolling it out for all Android devices now.

Download Multiple Apps Simultaneously On The Google Play Store

Google Play Store is the default and go-to place for Android users to download apps and games. Downloading apps and games from the Play Store has never been difficult, but not being able to download multiple apps simultaneously has been uncomfortable, at least to me. Up until now, if you tapped the “Install” button on multiple apps at a time, they would be downloaded one by one. While one app is being installed, the rest of the apps would be under “pending”. But now, it’s not the case anymore.

How To Check The Feature?

Download multiple apps simultaneously on the Play Store

To see if you can download multiple apps simultaneously on the Google Play Store, Choose any two apps or games (preferably bigger sizes), and tap on the install button of both of them. Now both apps should download and install concurrently instead of waiting for the first one to finish the installation. The download or installation progress can be monitored inside the Play Store, on your home screen, and in the notification panel as shown in the screenshots below.

Downloads Only 2 Apps Simultaneously

I expected it to allow multiple downloads of at least 3 to 4 apps simultaneously similar to the IOS app store. But we are allowed to install only 2 apps at a time, as of now. The rest of the apps will be pending until one of the previous processes is finished. So, you can download any two apps/games at a time for now.

And this behavior can be triggered only on the new app/game installations. Existing apps can’t be updated simultaneously. The ability to update multiple apps simultaneously would be more useful, as updating a bunch of apps is more frequent than installing a bunch of apps. We probably will be able to update multiple apps simultaneously on the Google Play Store soon. Who knows?

Currently, I’m able to install or download multiple apps simultaneously on the Google Play Store in the Play Store version 40.6.32. As per the reports, the feature is also seen working on a few pixel devices and others. You check it on your device and let me know the model of it in the comments.
