Meta, the parent company of the popular social media platforms Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram is known for revamping their apps often to enhance the user experience of users. Instagram was spotted testing the ability to create AI characters a few months ago. Now, Instagram has officially announced it. Likewise, a few features that reverse engineers spotted in the past have made their way to the official app. In this post, you will learn about Instagram new features, announcements, and speculations.

Ability to Create AI Characters and AI Friends
Instagram was spotted testing a few AI features such as the ability to create an AI friend or an AI version of yourself a few months ago. Now, Instagram has officially announced. According to the official announcement, users will be able to create two types of AIs on Instagram: Creator’s AIs and AI characters. Creator’s AI will let content creators on Instagram build an AI as an extension of themselves to answer common questions over DMs, helping them reach more people. And anyone will be able to create an AI character based on their interests to entertain or inspire.
These features will roll out over the coming weeks in the US first and then the users around the globe will get them. I don’t know how useful these features will be to users in the future, but for now, I think they are useless and most of the users don’t want them. What do you think?
Add Music on Instagram to the Spotify Playlist
As useless as I find the AI features on Instagram, I think this new Instagram feature comes in handy if you like music. Instagram users can now add the music tracks of Instagram reels and posts to their Spotify liked songs playlist, and it is easy. When you like the track of a post or a reel on Instagram, tap on the music track tag you see under the username, then tap on the Add button to add the track to your liked songs playlist on Spotify. It’s that simple.
Filter Reels With Notes
Also, I have spotted another new Instagram feature that lets me Filter Instagram reels based on notes. Up until now, I could only filter the Reels by “Following” and “Nearby” to see the reels of the Instagram accounts I follow, and the reels near my location respectively. But with the third option, I can watch the reels on which my friends added their notes. (If you don’t know how to add notes on the reels, you tap the share option on any reel, tap the add notes option, and add your notes.)
Blocking The Ability to Take Screenshots in Chats
It is speculated that Instagram is considering working on the ability to restrict users from taking screenshots in chats. I don’t have any additional information regarding whether it will notify others when we screenshot the chat or it will block the ability to screenshot in the chats entirely. I will update the post as soon as I get more information.
Wrapping Up
Those are a few upcoming and new Instagram features. The ‘add Music to Spotify’ and ‘Filter reels by notes’ features are available in the public release. Custom AI friend and AI character features will be available in a month or so, and the ability to take Screenshots in chats will probably be blocked in a few months (Not sure though).
